The Company has already registered the domain name company.com for providing Internet services. However, now that Active Directory is being implanted, you need a namespace strategy for the internal network.
What are the benefits and drawbacks for each of the three internal namespace strategies? Which would you recommend for The Company?

I'll give you part of your answer.

The recommended solution is company.local for the internal namespace. Advantages are: similar nomenclature to the external namespace for easy recognition, but different so there is no DNS confusion and increased security. (Internal DNS structure is more difficult to access externally). Disadvantages are minimal; you'll need an internal DNS server to resolve internal DNS names (unless you want to run NetBios or WINS). But, you'll want your own DNS server anyway, and nobody wants to run WINS unless they have to.
