DO NOT put butter or oil of any sort on your burn. The only thing you should be doing is soaking it in as cold a water as you can stand. Keep it soaking - if it's in an awkward place (above the elbow) soak a clean washcloth in cold water and keep dabbing it.

I'm very serious here - water is the ONLY thing you put on a burn like that. Do not use oil of any kind!

BUTTER WILL NOT HELP. Butter has an oily base and it will only allow the skin underneath the 1st or 2nd layer to continue to burn.
Your arm is still burning because the 3rd, 4th, and 5th layers of skin are still 'burning'.

Ice will do the trick. On for 15 minutes, off for 15 minutes. Do this several times over the next couple of hours and you should notice a difference.
Take Motrin or Tylenol for the pain, it may help also.

You can also go to the drug store and get some burn cream which includes a local anesthetic to numb the skin.
Aloe will help too.
You can buy silvadene cream at the drug store which will aid in the healing of the burn. Ice is the way to go for now though.
Hope this helps.

My mom was in the burn unit for a month. You have a first degree burn (red hot), second is blisters, and third is no skin left. Ice and these other things won't help. Put pain relief neosporin on it and gauze with tape. Change the dressing every eight hours or so. Slowly as the burn heals put lotion on it with aloe. It will take about a week and if the skin gets rough put more neosporin. Hope you feel better soon!

Put a cold flannel on it and change it frequently. Try and get some aloe vera gel, its fanrtasic stuff. We have a plant so any burns get immediate treatment. Its cools and takes the pain away almost completely. I burn myself about 2 weeks ago in the same way as you. It is only just healing over as it was quite bad, but putting the plant sap on it every day meant that I had very little pain with it.

You have to run cool water over it to take out the heat, I was just reading this last night. And never put butter on a burn, it actually holds the heat in. It might be frustrating, but just keep running the cool water over the burn for several minutes. If you have some aloe vera gel that might help, especially if you chill it in the fridge for a bit before you apply it to the burn.

Do you have an aloe plant, break open one of the stems and put the gel on your burn....Or keep your arm in cool water that will help relieve some of the pain, also take a Advil...If the burn is real bad and is starting to blister call your doctor, or I called the number on the back of my insurance card and spoke to a nurse...good luck

It sounds like a 1st degree burn, which isn't too serious.
Try cold water, ice or a cold pack. Keep the cold on for as long as you can stand it.
After that, rub on some aloe vera gel. Reapply it as needed.
Be sure to keep the area clean. Watch for infection & see a doctor quickly if any problems develop. But it should heal OK if you take care of it.
Good luck to you.

The best thing in the world is if you an aloe plant or a friend that will give you a piece of one. Just squeeze the juice on the burn area. Not only will it take the heat out of the burn but it is a great antiseptic to prevent infection.

I did the same thing last month. I just held ice on it for a few hours. It helped numb the pain. The redness went away after about 2 days.

no butter..holds in the heat!! Put some aloe vera on it if you have it. Ice helps a bunch or really really cold water. Watch out for creams and lotions because they can hold the heat in and make the burn worse.
