Some states offer victims assistance and awareness. Contact your local police department and the Prosecutors office in the city that convicted him. They can assist you and give you some information that should assist you and help calm your fears. Also, I would strongly suggest that you seek some counseling. You should not spend the rest of your life living in fear. The perpetrator of the crime will most likely have to register with the local Sheriffs Office and he can not just get out and disappear into society. Good luck to you and God bless.

Yes, this is our legal system at it's best. Harm a dog --go to jail for years. Harm a child or sexually assault someone and get a slap on the wrist and your freedom. Isn't it lovely?

You might try a restraining order (although someone who wants to harm you will do so either way).

You may wish to consider a move as well. Unfortunately, as you can see his crimes were not "all that bad" according to the court....let me guess, the judge was male, right?

Keep your eyes open, buy some mace, and consider a self-defense class --no joke! It's worth it.

Make sure you stay away from him. Go directly to your police station now and tell them how you feel and ask them to put a bond on him that he can not contact you in any way nor can he be with in at least 100 ft from you. Make sure you do not go out alone or to and from school for a while.

Talk to police or someone at the court house about your concerns. Take action now to control the situation.

THIS COULD BE TRUE UNLESS HE GETS WHAT HE DID IN JAIL FOR HIM SELF. WHAT GO'S AROUND COMES AROUND.
