dame your too young for me
the high points were that most good action movies were in the 80's
terminator , rambo and these film become such a sucuss in film were carried on making , more better movies, carrying on even in the early 90's film such as die hard 2 and terminator 2 ,
the popular 80's movies were difinately
terminator 1984
rambo 1 2 and 3
die hard 1 1988 I think,
Rocky ,
short cucuit 1
Big with Tom hanks loads of 80's movie, that even today you don't get movie like that back in those days I hope this help
oh yes the low points were that , they was not that much technologies at the time , so for example terminator 1 was very good , but terminator 2 in the early 90's knock terminator 1 well back why? because the speacial effects that they used and that it was 7 years on technology had grown , and so making it much much , improvements from the first film, so the first terminator wasnt so good as teminator 2 because of its time and the use of technolgy when technology was than greater after seven years they managed to make a big difference from the first film
hope this helps

Well my high point is The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. It would cost gazillions to get that cast together again and it was also the craziest concept for a movie. The end credit sequence is cool and has been imitated a few times since.
Also Withnail and I is an obvious 80's stand out. The low point would probably be something like 9 1/2 weeks

The 80's was popular for the "brat pack" films form America which focussed on the agony and joy of the modern 80's American teenager, Film's of this genre include, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and St Elmo's Fire. The American Musical saw somewhat of a revival in Film's like, Footloose, Desperately Seeking Susan and The Little Shop of Horrors. In England it was the arthouse and literary movement that really took off in film with films such as, A Room with a View, Where Angels fear to tread and Maurice (all based on Edwardian novels by E M Forster). Aslo edgy and arty looks at modern British life in movies like, Educating Rita, Withnail and I and My Beautiful Laundrette. Also our less than fortunate history was explored in films like, Dance with a Stranger, White Mischeif and A Passage to India.
The Alien series has a firm foot in the 80's although the first film is credited as 1979. Low points would include cack like the terminator films!

I agree, there are high and low points of 1980's movies. Movies from those years are often cheesy and poorly made. But they also were a stepping stone for some actors/actresses that have made it big today. I think that a majority of movies from the 80's are about teens and issues they go through while growing up. And all of them deliver a message in the end. A couple of my favorites are "Pretty in Pink" and "Sixteen Candles." Both movies star Molly Ringwald in them and made her big in the movie industry. And who doesn't love, "The Breakfast Club," a classic 1980's film starring again Molly Ringwald and Emilio Estevez. Another classic is, "The Karate Kid" which delivers a strong message and is well known. Know the quote, "wax on, wax off!" Classic 80's quote! Movies from these years are worth watching for entertainment because they remind us of the time when scrunchies and hot pink lipstick were in!

Films from the 80s that left a lasting impression on me were...
Ghostbusters - hyped beyond belief, but a pretty funny screenplay, good effects (for the time anyway) and a classic Ray Parker Jr singalong song...
Trading Places - Eddie Murphy's quizzical look into the camera as Winthorpe explains what a "BLT" is still cracks me up
Beverley Hills Cop - Another Murphy vehicle, dated badly, seemed like lots of fun at the time. "Axel F" was very big over here in UK. There seemed to be lots of films about bad guys (usually English) selling large amounts of drugs in the 80s
Back To The Future - possibly the best 80s film ever, but the ending's emphasis on material possessions does tell you something about the time it was made...Marty goes back and his life is so much better... because he has a 4x4?!!
Wall Street - "Greed is Good", say no more
Born On The 4th of July - Stone's Anti-Vietnam war film pulled no punches, better than Platoon (imho) and proved Tom Cruise was more than just 'Top Gun'
Dirty Dancing - God I hated this film, but I sat through it numerous times because I had a bit of a thing for the next door neighbour
Terminator - Lots of good sci-fi films out in the 80s, this probably among the best of them. Arnie was HUGE back then
Coming To America - Murphy again! Sometimes I forget just how successful he was. Worth seeing for the Sexual Chocolate scene alone. "I believe the children are our future...."
Star Trek films - Gene's creation really came back to life in the 80s, some of them more successful than others
The Breakfast Club - seemed to hit a nerve with us teenage types back then
Ferris Buller's Day Off - I've seen this recently and it's terrible, but it seemed really funny at the time (honest)
Inner Space - Meg Ryan, vision of loveliness
There are obviously loads more but these are just a few from the top of my head

I think that some of the best 80's movies were Say Anything, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Better Off Dead, Wrath of Khan,E.T.and Return of the Jedi. Some of the worst were the awful sequels to Police Academy and Airplane. Also, some of the teeny bopper oriented movies could get pretty bad.

There were a string of mediocre "college kids getting naked" movies, like Up the Creek, and a string of good ones like Porky's and Meatballs, but the best movies of the 80's were definitely the Starwars sequels. Some of the good horror franchises started in the 80's, like Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, etc.

The 80s wasn't precisely a classic decade for action picture making - given how super the 70s have been for traditional video clips. It grew to become into the last decade of the blockbuster action picture, and grew to become into incredibly Speilberg's era. it is likewise the last decade the place the Brits have been meant to leap forward - what occurred? :-). i assume it grew to become into additionally the era the place Meryl Streep grew to grow to be an Oscar popular for her roles in Silkwood, Sophie's determination and Out of Africa. the appropriate movies must be Raging Bull; ET; Tootsie; Out of Africa; Elephant guy; coaching Rita; Amadeus; the colour pink; Platoon; Do the main suitable situation; A Passage to India; Silkwood; A Room with a View; risky Liaisons. Worst? Take your %., because of the fact the studios began to mount sequel upon sequel.
