Apparently there is a sequel to the shining (the shining 2??? perhaps) but I can't find it anywhere online and the only info I can find is that there was going to be one made (these online pages are very old now). I appreciate any info.

There was never a sequel done to The Shining. The original was the one starring Jack Nicholson and it really isn't a very good representation of the book (however, Nicholson's performance is legendary). The remake, starring Stephen Weber is much better and is almost verbatim to the book.

No, Stephen King did not write a sequel and would probably not authorize a sequel by another. However, you may be thinking of the re-make on TV. They completely reshot the movie as a two part mini-series which was supervised by King. It more closely followed the book in plot and was much spookier. It starred Rebecca DeMornay and the guy who played in Wings- Steven Weber.

If you're interested in Shining related material, Ghosthunters went to the Stanley Hotel, which was the basis for the Overlook, twice. Most recently they did a six hour live telecast on Halloween from the hotel. They got some interesting evidence. Go to scifi.com if you'd like to find out more.

I did some research but found nothing even hinting to a sequel. too bad though because the original was awesome. However they might make a sequel to the made for tv version of The Shining. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

No but I suspect it's only a matter of time before greed and lack of original ideas possesses Hollywood to make a sequel

No. There's just the 1997 mini-series remake starring Steven Weber. Stephen King actually had something to do with this one.

The Shining was remade to Stephen King's liking. It starred Tim Daley. It was far better than the original.
