Cannery Row! I feel it is the precursor to books like On the Road and led to the cultural revolution of the Beat Generation!

Of Mice and Men. I read it when i was about 12 because I liked the title, then I realised I'd seen the film when I was 6 or 7. Only an exceptional film could do that and the book is even better.

'Of Mice And Men', Read it at school, or rather our english teacher read most of it to us. She made the book come to life by putting the right type of voices in. Brilliant! Ps Didnt like the film though.

Sadly,(of John Steingbeck) I've only read 'Of Mice and Men', and that was many years ago, but I would still list it as one of the best books I've ever read.
