6x + 6=2x+42

A simple balancing problem.

First lets get all of the variables on the same side of the equal sign. We do that by subrtracting 2x from both sides.

6x + 6 -2x = 2x+42 -2x

That gives

4x + 6 = 42

Now we get all of the non variables on the other side by subtracting 6

4x + 6 - 6 = 42 - 6

That gives

4x = 36

Now we figure out what "X" is by dividing both sides by 4. That gets "X" by itself.

4x/4 = 36/4

That gives

x = 9

6x + 6= 2x + 42
6x - 2x +6 = 2x - 2x + 42
4x + 6 - 6 =42 - 6
4x=36
4x/4 = 36/4
x = 9

Combine the x's then the constants (reg 3's). Divide that number by what is in front of the x.
