I need an intro to both modernity and post modernity.
A main arguement to both points of view. Also explaining diversity caused by living in a globalised society.

personally id start looking at some foucault, baudrillard, beck for the post modernists. foucault can be heavy to wade through but hes your best bet.
hes written on history and the lack of an objective truth and all sorts of stuff.
maybe some comte for the modernist?
Look in a text like Giddens, Antony- Sociology to help you out with the theorists.
the diversity part of your question: you could discuss the rise of global cities and mass urbanisation over the western world over the past 50 odd years. many have moved from possibly oppressive countries to lead a better life servicing these global cities. The other reason being the rise of refugees in the past 50 years and the development of post wwii multi culturalism.
i.e. migrant labour used in massive works programs and stuff.
but not knowing what stage of your degree, or your word length its hard to give you much mroe direction than that.
