My friend is a bad driver and she really scares me when we drive on narrow roads on the California coast. I told someone else about how bad she was and it got back to her and she got really angry. Then she got everyone thinking I'm a jerk. How should I handle this now? I don't have a car so eventually I might need a ride. And how do you deal with a bad driver?

Tell the truth. You are thankful for her help but her driving scares the out of you. Don't be mean spirited just try to be charming. Next time she picks you up, wear a helmet or life jacket,,,just for fun. When you can, buy a car.

Uh-huh....you deal with it by staying out of the car. Sorry...but would you rather she be a moron and angry with you or would you both like to scream like sissies as you rip through the guardrails and plunge 400 feet down into the Pacific? That is of course if you don't hit the outcropping of rocks on the way down, get ejected and have the car roll over you once or twice before hitting the drink. My, my...what a horrible corpse you'd leave huh? No open casket for you!

You do what you want but I'd take the "her being pissed" at me.

There are a lot of ways to deal with this situation. Here are the top five things to do.
5)tell her(nicely)that she should take some driving lessons for about a year.
4)ask someone else to give you a ride.
3)have her play video games that include driving cars..... that should improve her hand-eye coordination.
2)teach her how to drive correctly(the way you want it)
and the #1 tip is to keep your eyes closed, grasp on to your seat, pray for dear life, AND tell yourself you will live.

If nothing else works you could appeal to your friend's compassionate nature by letting her know how scared she makes you feel by her unsafe driving.
If she ignores you then don't get in a car with her. It is better to walk, cycle, take the bus, take a taxi rather than loose a limb or worse.

If she scares you that much don't drive with her. My brother is a bad driver and if she really is a true friend she wouldn't get mad about a little thing like that. thats like getting mad because one of your friends says you arent very good at cooking or drawing. If it were me make her see what is so bad about her driving. mabey she will realise why she scares you so much.
