I have been in severe pain for 2wks now, where I dont sleep, cant eat, or anythingelse. I was trying not togo until my 2nd trimester but I could not take the pain. My ob sent a letter of what the dentist could do. When I went he took a ex-ray with a double vest and discovered I had a severe infection and needed a tooth pulled. I went today and had It done, with NO ephrin-ephrin. My concern is has anyonelse had exrays done in there first trimester and had work done in the first trimester and everything turn out to be fine? (key word, first trimester) I just worry as anyone would.

Yes, I have had x-rays at the dentist during 1st trimester. They double-vested me. I also had a root canal during 1st trimester. Everything turned out fine. No problems with pregnancy nor with the baby.

Hope this helps ease your mind some. I know how it is...so many things to worry about.

Yeah dont stay in pain. Being pregnant you still have to take things to help you out if you have a bladder infection, ear infection or tooth infection. You cant suffer with it. Dont worry about the dentist. I also had a tooth infection that was sooo bad I thought i was dying. I went to the dentist had an xray with one vest and took antibiotics, and tylenol with codeine, and then had my tooth pulled with the novicaine of course. So Its all ok to do. My doctor said its ok, the dentist also knows what to do with pregnant women. I also had to go during my 3rd trimester and get another xray done and had other work done on my teeth. My baby was born perfectly healthy. No problems. He is a healthy vibrant 3 year old now. Dont suffer

You really need to ask your doctor and your dentist if this is ok. When I was in my first trimester, my dentist scheduled me for my 6 month cleaning. When I told her that I was pregnant, she refused to give me a cleaning and told me that I needed to go to my OB and get clearance from her. She said I could come back later on in my pregnancy. So, I'd definitely look into it if I were you -- better safe than sorry!

Good luck!

You should be ok as long as they vested you. The x-ray does'nt deliver that much radiation these days. The vest you as a precaution.

I thought x-rays were a no no for pregnant women, no matter how far. I had mine skipped until my next appt following birth of my daughter. I could be wrong.

I was told you can't have them done. My dentist would not do them when I was 6 weeks pregnant. He made me wait until after I gave birth.
