Are you thinking of a ROTH IRA? It is named after the author of the bill allowing/creating this type of investment that allows for tax free withdrawals at retirement because the contributions have already been taxed. Unlike a traditional IRA where the contributions are pre-tax and you pay the taxes once you begin withdrawing at retirement.

Roth was the legislator who contrived this investment.

Senator William Roth (Republican from Delaware) introduced the IRA named after him. It's got a lot of tax advantages and is a good way to save and invest for your retirement years.
