They obviously look the same in a general sense, just as Europeans do, but it is not that hard to tell the difference. Koreans tend to have bigger noses, especially the bridge. Also smaller eyes. Chinese tend to have rounder faces. Their noses tend not to have much of a bridge. I'm not as familiar with Japanese. I think their faces are not quite as flat as Chinese. The young Japanese also like to dye their hair and do other things to look more Western. I suppose it is getting this way in China, too. Of course, these are all generalizations. China especially is a very large country and people from the north don't look anything like people in the south. The best way to tell is to get to know some Asians, and then you will see that they are obviously different, just as a Swede and an Italian are different.

I'm Korean and sometimes I can distinguish between Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese. Chinese have rounder faces and soft features (normally no eyelid crease but double folds of skin over eyes so they appear small), Japanese have sharper more defined features (eyes feline shaped, with a crease on the upper lid) and Koreans are a combination of the two. However, most do not like looking the same so a lot of the girls endure through blepharoplasty to modify their eyes to look more western or more Japanese, you only need to look at some of the Korean actresses to see this is obvious, and it is a common procedure throughout Asia.

Hmm.. It's kind of subjective here. Honestly, I'm a chinese and I find it quite hard to differentiate 2 westerners... I can't even differentiate a German and a French, and the list goes on. So, I guess it depends on your up bringing and experience. I think I should be able to differentiate 2 caucasians if I'm around them long enough.

Even though you've asked about the chinese, Japanese and korean, I think even Asians find it hard to differentiate us. For example, when I was in Thailand, everyone thought I was Thai! And when I was in Shanghai, some chinese thought I'm Korean... =) hehe... Sometimes in my own country, Malaysia... some people (Chinese and Malays alike..) think I'm Malay. I don't know why is it like that, I'm 100% Chinese but I guess it depends on how dark one is. I'm darker than most of my chinese friends (thanks to the sun..).

Erm.. do you know that even an American Chinese and a China Chinese and a South East Asian Chinese look different? So, I guess it depends...

They look similar, but not the same (just like no two French, German, Italian, Canadian, etc people look the same).
I almost always accurately guess which group a person belongs to, but I have spent a lot of time with (and have a lot of close friends who are) Chinese, Korean, and Japanese people.

Why not get to know some of them and find out for yourself?

Well...though I hate to admit it...I myself cannot tell the differences between us, the Japanese, and the Koreans, but most of my relatives can. In fact, we have Japanese students, a Korean student, and many Chinese students(I among them) at the same school. Despite that fact, once they start talking in their own language, I can hear their nationalities. If they don't speak the language, then usually their names are tell tales, or they just tell us. =)
So while I can't tell of any physical differences between the three nationalities, (stick-figure Korean, large female and average male Japanese, and I myself, a FAT Chinese....I hate being fat...), I usually can distinguish Chinese from Japanese from Korean. Usually...
I hope you find this useful, although it is just my blabbering on and on and on...

They actually don't look the same, you know. You're just not used to seeing many South East Asian people. I have to admit that I wouldn't be able to say who comes from where, but that just because I've never been to South East Asia.

Same with black people. Many you can make the difference, but a century ago (and probably not as far back as that), white people couldn't make the difference between two black people, and African people, depending on the country they are from, look different.

Apparently, it's the same for black people or South East Asian people who have never seen a white people before. We just don't recognize the differences when we are not used to a certain type of face.

that is been a desirable concern to analyze! I have studied Martial Arts my total existence and am sixty 2 years previous and characteristic realized that the adjustments are extra cultural than actual! besides the undeniable fact that locally the chinese contained in the Northern parts of China look taller and their eyes are closer in visual attraction to the individuals who stay in Mongolia and Tibet! The Southern chinese look shorter and their eyes are extra resembling the eastern and Taiwanese! that is amazingly subjective so i wager it really is very somewhat the way something else of the international sees it too! The Germans did a "racial" study formerly WWII and took facial measurements and a number of that Ido is provided on the internet in case you google it!
