Some times walMart is playing country music.
Some times they are playing rock n roll, the Beatles, classic rock.

How do they decide what to play and when? Is it up to each individual store's manager to choose the playlist, or is it handed down from the head office in Bentonville?

Bentonville decides EVERYTHING. I worked in a Sam's Club in an upstairs office where the music box was housed. We had nothing to do with it. The music Wal-Mart and Sam's Club plays is random, to serve the music tastes of many people. I once heard Nirvana while I was working. It's to satisfy everyone.

Every Walmart I have known of all play the same station. Just like Kmart and otherwise. All stores in the corporation play the same station or playlist. I could be wrong. I used to work at Kmart, so I know they do.

Wal Mart does not decide what music is being played. If you will look in their music isle's, there is a display of cd's with a variety of music to choose from. The one you choose will be played in thier audio system. Keep looking.

I am not positive, but I work in a restaurant and our managers used to pick the c.d.'s but the last two years we have had satellite radio so all of our locations have the same music. They try to make it a mix so there will be something everyone likes.
