I would suggest that you never got out of the habit of giving him bottles at night when he asked for them. What you need to do over the next few nights is give him less in the bottles then water. You will have to grin and bear it or buy some ear plugs because I'm sure if he's like my four year old he will protest loudly and for a lengthy amount of time. When you have got him off milk (if that's his tipple) and on to water. Put the water into a beaker instead. Give him one beaker and do not refill it. He should be drinking all he needs during the day so make sure he is. Email me if you'd like any more advice.
Good Luck!

At 4 your child shouldn't be using bottles at all. Bottles should only be used for about the first year unless there is some reason they need to use bottles. Personally, I would just let the child cry it out at that age, but I know many people prefer not to use that approach. You could also put the child in bed with you and when they wake up just pat them and tell them to go back to sleep.

You may want to take them to the dr, though, and find out if there's some medical reason they waken so much.

First your four year old should be to normal cups by now unless there is a problem you haven't mentioned. Second, he or she should be able to sleep through the night with out a drink and you should not be giving him drinks in the night anyways or he will be up peeing all night or wetting the bed. You need to stop giving him bottles and drinks at night. This is going to be tough. He wants them because he knows you will give them to him and you didn't break the habit when he was a toddler. Go cold turkey or start removing his drinks one at a time. And please get rid of the bottles. Please tell me he isn't still using a pacifier too? Ask your child's doctor for help and ideas too.

Hi try offering water instead and firmly saying that only one bottle to go to bed and take up a juice bottle with only enough to fill that bottle or milk........
Then when she wakes in the night say look no more there is only water and offer only water, its hard to stick it out but stick it out and within days you will see a difference and she wont be waking in the night

it's not normal and what's with the bottle?
My son is 4 as well but since his 2nd year we have stopped the bottles. The dummy was "out" when he was 9 month old.

That is absolutely not normal! I don't think my son had a bottle after he was 1 1/2!

I hope this is a joke. Obvioulsy a 4 year old child is way too old for a bottle, and way to old to be waking up at night.

What??? Four years old and bottle they don't mix. Your child should not have a bottle anymore. My baby is 2....no bottle, no binky.

not normal at 4, either take stright away or fill with plain water, will get bored no reward to wake up for. If constantly thirsty get tested for diabetes
