It depends on how old you are. If you are 2, then certainly. If you are 99, than probably not.

I have nothing against learning new words, and it can certainly help someone, but I wouldn't call it an important part of life, and I wouldn't prioritize it over other things.
It is far more important to learn how to correctly use and spell the words that you currently, commonly use, so that you are understood when you talk or write. Once a person has his or her current vocabulary "down pat" in terms of spelling things right, using correct grammar, etc., then he or she can start learning new vocabulary if desired.
A person with little education and a small vocabulary is still easier to understand, and sounds smarter, than a person who uses fancy words but can't put them together into a comprehensive sentence.

Absolutely!!!
Learning anything new is important. Studies show that using your intellect is one of the best ways to keep from losing it...They say that even just doing the crossword puzzle in the morning paper can help keep us from developing dementia, and perhaps even Alzheimer's.
Not to mention the fact that every time you get new info, you become a better person, in that you are a repository of knowledge!

Yes, because it is fo fun to use big words to intimidate others. You will need this later on, I promise. I have found that if I am having an argument or dabate of some sort and don't know my facts exactly, I throw out half *** things and use big words and people shut up because they assume if you know words that they do not, you are right.

Obtaining a variety of vocabulary words in linguistic pursuits assists one in the avoidance of egregious error and offering the appearance of unintelligent babble.
Nevertheless, an expansive vocabulary can initiate the appearance of pomposity. :o)

yes! i try to learn as many new words as possible because i want to broaden my vocabulary.
it also comes in handy when a guy annoys you and you can spit out some big words at him and he looks at you funny and you have to repeat it in a language they understand. which is filled with ummm's, duh's, and dude's. lol
