There's a book on this called Exposing Men: The Science and Politics of Male Reproduction on this matter

2006-11-09 09:35:43 · update #1

The author of this book says that researchers she interviewed said that they were heavily attacked by the scientific community and the public when they found a connection between environmental toxins ( cigarette smoke, pesticides, alcohol, drugs, heavy metals)in males and/or older paternal age and and increased birth defects. She said she was a little stunned by the fact that there was no public attention to this growing body of scientific evidence. Also in many other studies the information on fathers was not even asked.

I'm not sure that "afraid" is the correct term. Men would be as concerned as women; however, science seems to focus on the genetics of women for birth defects. More information and education are needed for men.

Chow!!

Normal sperm have no more potential to cause defects in children than a woman's eggs. Toxic exposure, however, may be transmitted in sperm or eggs to children.

I don't think so. Most men seem pretty confident that their sperm can cure cancer.
