Whenever you multiply/divide a positive number by a negative, the answer is negative. For example, 8/-2 = -4. A negative divided by a positive is still negative: -8/2 = -4. Finally, a negative divided by a negative makes a positve: -8/-2 = 4. The same applies for multiplying... - x - = +, - x + = -, and + x - = -. ( - = negative, + = positive and x = times). : )

Your answer will be negative, because -4 must be multiplied by a neg number in order to get a positive 76. Hope this clears it up!

if you add or subtract, it can go either way. It will take the sign of the larger number.
If you multiply or divide:
2 positives = a positive
1 positive and 1 negative = a negative
2 negatives = a positive
Memorize that and you won't be confused on this. :o)

It will become negative. Reverse it and it makes more sense.
76/-4 = -19
-19 X -4 = 76 (The negatives cancel each other)
