I tried Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" thinking that would be easy for a female (no high notes), but forgot that many hair bands from the 80's loved high notes. Need suggestions on what to try the next time (if there is a next time).

The best karaoke song for a beginner is one that is easy to sing without a lot of voice acrobatics required, and yet one which is both familiar and entertaining for the audience to listen to. Try one of these:

Margaritaville
Brown eyed girl
At this moment
Hurts so Good
Desperado

There ya go. Five for the price of one. And this friendly *HINT* from a karaoke all-star...a little liquid courage never hurts when youre nervous.

Good luck and happy singin.
Seacrest out.

Pick something from the nineties sung by a pop star, like Britney Spears oe Christina Aguilera. No one can take that seriously, so even if you suck, everyone will think you're doing it on purpose.

Try "The Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler.
It starts low and then gets only a little higher toward the end.
Good luck and have fun.

Margaritaville is by far the easiest. Good luck. You will be soon hacking every song known to man to total pieces!

I find that it doesn't really matter. Everyone usually sucks at Karaoke. Just get really drunk and pick whatever song you feel necessary to have fun.
