Okay, I am from TN. I can tell you there is good and bad here. First off, if you visited/lived here, stay away from every place but Nashville. There is so much ignorance in some parts of TN that it often makes me ashamed. True, there's bad apples in Nashville too, but there's also some genuinely cool people. There's a fantastic artistic/indy rock community that is so fun to be around. You also have a good mix of city and country life right around Nashville too. You can have land and privacy but at the same time be close to a busy city. The city itself is clean compared to most, and there's tons to do...bars, clubs., nice restaurants, museums, fantastic symphony, parks, etc. People here have southern charm without being so redneck that it drives you crazy. But keep in mind, that's SOME people. There's crowds I would avoid, but that's true for any city.
Economically speaking, there is no income tax, so that's a plus. Property taxes are relatively low too. There is a higher sales tax, however...8.25% on food items and 9.25% on other things. Still, having no income tax more than makes up for that. There's also lots of career opportunities, with business and factories moving here every year (mainly because of low taxes).
That's my summary of my home state. Yeah, I have lots of issues with it at times, but overall, I can't think of a more well-rounded, safer place to be.

I have never been. Haven't heard anything about it for me to form an opinion...BUT I have heard some great stories of things that took place ther. Stll nothing to base an opinion off of.
My husband's grandfather, is the only person I know from Tennessee. He grew up as a farm boy, there. Like I said, I have heard some incredible stories. He is really funny, nice, chivalric, and just a good person. I love him very much. His wife is the same way, but I don't think she is from the same state.
I don't think a place has anything to do with a person or the way they are.(except a few cases, how living somewhere can affect a person attitude of feelings.) But not generally. There are good people everywhere, there are also bad people. I mean, come on, I live in Oklahoma. But a common feeling and misconceptionis when people think that people from Oklahoma are all rednecks...
Looking at me, anyone should be able to tell how far from the truth that is..

The few that I know are nice. I don't really have an opinion about the people from Tennessee or any other state. I don't know much about the state because I've never been there.

My parents just moved out of there. They retired there but had to come back north. People were nice, but there is a difference between north and south---one is no better than the other--there is just a comfort factor.
TN was beautiful when we visited, but not somewhere I'd be interested in living in.
Besides it's a tad too red state for me.

They are like people from any other state--except California.
As for the state, it is gorgeous, but a funny shape. The top and bottom are so straight and flat but the sides are all crooked. Makes me wish I could straighten them out and make a perfect rectangle.LOL

I think that Tennessee is such a cool state to me. I always talk to my family about how I want to travel there when I grow up. I just might even go to college down there! ^_^
