What happened to Star Jones? I know she had the gastric bypass and all that but why did she get fired from the view? Why is or was she a source of controversy? I know i can google it but i feel like giving away some points.

All of Star Jones power layed nestled in her fat. Whenever she lost all that weight she lost all of her strength. Soon she will wither away into non exsistence, never to be seen at McDonalds again.

Okay here is the deal. It seems when Meridith said her good byes, Star wanted to be in the 'head chair', well rumor has it that Barbra didn't want Star to be the head. Plus the big bosses weren't feeling Star when she was talking about her wedding all on the air. So they had set in motion to fire her. But Star out did them by quiting on the air 3 days before they had plan on her doing it. Oops.

Plus since they had picked Rosie to take Mer's place, the bosses new that Rosie and Star weren't going to work since Rosie had blasted Star about having surgery and not tell people. Star never said she didn't have any she just didn't say what she had done.

It got right nasty there for a while. You should google the interview of Star with Larry King. That was really good. She fired back and regained all of her cool points. Heck if nothing else, she can use her law degree.

But that's the skinny on the Star and View saga.

First, on the weight thing:
She disappointed a lot of her fans, overweight women, when, after lauding that fat is beautiful, and made no apology for her obesiety, she went and had gastric bypass and left all her fat fans in the dust. Further, she has never come straight out with what "procedure" she had to lose the weight, but it was pretty clear what it was. Her fans thought she should have been both more forthcoming and sensitive to her fans.
Now, regarding the firing: Meredith Vierra was given the position at the Today Show leaving an opening. Walters and others decided to put Rosie O'Donnell in that seat (ostensibly the lead chair on the show) and it was well known on the inside that Star Jones and Rosie did not get along. According to inside voices, the producers tried to patch things up, but failing that gave Star a face-saving way to leave the show, but she took it upon herself to announce, to everyone's shock, on the air, live, that she was leaving. They fired her that night and she never returned.
Her Future: There is speculation about the sexual preferences of her husband, and the potential failure of their marriage, but those are probably just rumors. She will probably come back in some new venue, but it is my feeling that her time is up. I dont believe she has a big fan base anymore after her weight loss fiasco, and her overtly ostentatious wedding.
The End
Now gimme those ten points
Love, Clarkie

my theory on what has happened to her was that she was so busy talking about her wedding and having sponsors pay for the event was really getting on everyone nerves for one thing. Then, when she lost all that weight. First she claimed that she was happy being what she was and then-just like that-she "losses" the weight. I mean, she did not even say that she had gastric bypass. In fact, she said she had gotten a little "help". What? Just come out and say you had gotten the work done. There is nothing wrong with that statement.
Then, with all of her weight loss, her demeanor to her co-workers (about the wedding issue when she chastised Joy for -OMG-bringing a camera to the reception) on national t.v. Then, her talk about her husband-everyone started to resent her. So, Barbara-who always thinks of herself-got sick of her and decided to bring in a woman whom she knew was opinionated about Star's weight loss and publicly said so, Rosie O'Donnell.
Barbara knew that this was going to get Star angry-angry enough to want to leave. Barbara was upset with the fact that Star would say one thing on the air-to save face-but say something different. Then Barbara did what she did the day after saying ".....how sad it was that she did that."
(Which made Barbara look bad in the way she did that.)
So, now, Barbara has got Rosie and can't you see the love on that show? I mean, the second reason why Barbara got Rosie was not only because of Star, but, to get a damn Daytime Emmy. So, even though Barbara "lost" her Star, she now has Rosie. Which may be proven worse then if she never had let Star go in the first place.

Star Jones Reynolds Gone – Barbara Walters 'Betrayed'
Barbara Walters, the show's creator, told PEOPLE on Tuesday that she felt "betrayed" by Reynolds's comments to the magazine. "My contract was not renewed for the tenth season," Reynolds told PEOPLE. "I feel like I was fired.".....
Walters then went on to explain that Reynolds had known "for months" that she would not be returning in the fall, and that the network had given her time to exit the show with "dignity."

Walters's on-air statement echoed what she told PEOPLE Tuesday: "Bill Geddie (The View's coexecutive producer) and I said to her, 'Handle this any way you want. You can say anything about a new job, you can say anything about a new road. Whatever you say, we'll back you up. We will never say that your contract was not renewed.'"

On Wednesday's program, Walters went on to say, "It is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table. And therefore, regrettably, Star will no longer be on this program."

As for where she'll go next, Jones Reynolds said Tuesday, during her final appearance on The View, "I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."

Star Jones was railroaded out of a job. The comedian chick with the red hair didn't care to much for star. I think that they couldn't handle her intellect and her realism. Rosie is alright but she can't be a star. Rosie is more about trying to get others acceptance. Star was about being content in the now.

Star got caught in the web of female politics on the View. Barbara Walters dumped her and now Star is trying to make it on her own. Rosie O'Donnel, of all people, has replaced her.

Star left on her own but Barbara Walters said they weren't going to renew her contract anyway, which I doubt. I think it was Barbara's way of saving face. Barbara Walters seems like a control freak to me and I don't care how long she's been around.
