I am 40 weeks pregnant today and am not having braxton hicks AT ALL.
This is my second pregnancy and the doctors said the head has started to engage, I have an upset tummy last 2 days with diarrhea (sorry!) and the baby has been quieter for these days aswell.
But does no braxton hicks mean labour is still a week or 2 away? Has anyone experienced no contractions and when did your baby arrive after what signs you had?

Not having Braxton Hicks doesnt mean anything. It sounds to me though like you are going to start labor very soon, because of the upset tummy, diarrhea, etc...and usually the baby doesnt move as much around the time you are going to go into labor. So even without BH contractions, you could go into labor this evening. YOu just never know. Good Luck

You poor thing... i know how you feel. I was 12 days overdue and had to be induced because he was not going to come on his own any time soon. Diarrhea is a good sign and usually happens close to labour starting or during birth so take that as a good sign. If you have had enough, go to your doc or midwife and ask them for an ultrasound. This will measure the fluid around the baby and tell you if labour is near. They may want to induce you. My advice to you is to take charge and it is your body and your bub and you can do something about it if you want to. Another tip, being induced is not really all that fun and i wish i had of asked my doc to break my waters for me to hurry things along. Good luck with the safe arrival of number 2

It is hard to wait right now but sounds like baby will come soon. For births beyond the first, usually the head engages right at the end. Diarrhea is also often a prelude. Though as you probably know, up until 42 weeks is normal range. If baby is quieter it might be wise to monitor the # of baby movements--consult your healthcare practitioner as to how. Good luck and safe delivery.

I went into labor at 39w 6d, had no idea it was going to happen. Had braxton hicks from 20 weeks up to labor BUT on the day she came, I woke up at 4am with cramping and bloody show and my contractions were immediately 5 minutes apart. Still didn't have her until 17 hours later though plus a C section.

It sounds like your baby may be settling and about to make his/her move. Just because you haven't had any Braxton Hicks contractions, doesn't mean you're too far from delivery. Keep in contact with your doctor and have a bag packed. If you go a week over, your doctor may want to induce you. Hardly ever do babies emerge on their due date. Best of luck and hang in there!

With my first son, I had absolutely no waring signs at all untell the day my son was born. I got my first cramp at 10 am and he was out by 4 pm. The only reason I didn't go to school that day was because I was suppose to have my labor induced that day. I was exactly 2 weeks over due. If your Dr. says everything is fine then go by what s/he says and ask about inducing the labor or having a c-section.

I had contractions at 36 weeks but my doctor didn't yet want me to go into labor, so he stop it. But at 39 weeks my water broke and I still did not have any contractions. I was induced about 6 hours after my water broke.

They say (and was true for me) that you have diarrhea a couple of days or so before you go into labor or labor starts, so you might be on your way.

Not everyone gets Braxton Hicks. I didnt. With my 2nd baby I had no signs whatsoever. I woke up at 2AM in hard labor and had her 6 hours later.

Diarrhea is actually a sign of impending labor. I wouldn't be surprised if you were off to the hospital in the next few days :D

I had no signs at all, aside from the baby dropping 3 weeks prior and again one week prior, and losing my mucus plug a whopping 5 weeks prior.

Ask your doctor for a stretch/sweep if you are desperate for it to start.

You may not have any BH contractions. Diarrhea is a sign up nearing labor. With my second, I could feel contractions but no pain. It was just a tightening and it was consistent. I would say to pay attention to any twinge of pain or ache and time it if they are consistent, it may be labor. I didnt have any pain until I was 5 cm dilated.
I would say you would be going within a week.
Good luck and congratulations!
