What do you look for when choosing a best answer?

I'm just looking to see that they put some thought into it. It doesn't have to agree with my opinion or anything. Just originality- not copying and pasting a site. Humor helps too (when appropriate).

It really depends on the question...
If the question has humor in it then the best answer would be the one that made the "asker" smile the most.
If it was a truly serious question then the most helpful and most thought provoking answer would be the best.
If it was somewhere in between then it is up to the "asker" to decide what helped the most even if the answer just made the asker chuckle...
What I hate is when the best answer was a friend and it was only for the points and did nothing to answer the question...

I look for the most well rounded answer to whatever has been asked, especially if it is a serious question of either opinion or academic topic.
If it's for fun, then I choose by the same criteria, but with humor in mind.

I look for someone who really tried to answer my question and not just wrote anything for the points. Sincerity and originality are a plus. Sometimes I might just need a good laugh.

a well thought out answer with out pasting a web site. also I believe some folks have many accounts and vote for them self's because some of the best answers are bad. my opinion

the one who put most thought into it, or gave more information. i seriously hate it when people pick best answers just because the answerer agrees with the questioner's opinion. like, when people ask "do you like my avatar?" (although they're not supposed to) and a person says something along the lines of "omg (s)he's gorgeous!!" then the questioner replies "thanks!" and totally ignores the honest person who says (s)he looks like sh!t. y'know? i just look for the people who really answer my questions, and if i can't decide, i just put it to vote.

either who had a sense of humor or who answered sincerely and honestly. never do i choose just to get it over with.

Depending on my question, either a genuinely helpful answer or the funniest answer.
My questions are not always serious.
