The right word is obseratum and it is Latin.

I studied Latin many years ago, and I still understand some sentences. I found in this page: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/hcc3.iii.viii.iii.html a quotation in Latin document about 'Marriage and Celibacy of the Clergy. The sentence says "nunc sibi omnem per nos indulgentiae aditum intelligat obseratum: ",

I think that obseratum is used here as "to observe", obey or follow rules.

Thesaurus:
1 to act according to the commands of

2 to act properly in relation to

To summarize, Obseratum means Observation, in the following sense:

ob·ser·vance (plural ob·ser·vanc·es) noun

Definition:

1. compliance: the execution of or compliance with laws, instructions, or customs

2. ritual: a custom, ritual, or ceremony, especially a religious one

3. performance of religious ceremonies: the celebration of a religious occasion, or the practice of a religious rite, ceremony, or action

Well your right it's not in the dictionary, but when I searched the web for it I was asked if I meant "observation". So I would assume his teacher made a typo and meant to write observation.

Could it possibly be a typo? Maybe observation?
