My sister lives in Florida, and is still mourning the death of her husband and is not doing well financially. My husband, me and my 18 year old step daughter are visiting her on Christmas. I would like all of us to open some presents on Christmas morning but do not want to burden her with any expense of buying us presents. Any ideas for Christmas morning gift exchange?

Tell her instead of bringing presents for everyone ... why not have her bake a few pies or make something for the families .. give her that weird cookie jar idea ... where you put all the ingredients in and decorate the jar ... she can give one to each family ... or who ever wants them ... she can make Tree decorations with family photos ... she can simple make a card telling everyone how much she loves them & how much it means for you all to be together for X-mas ... I'd say she has a pretty good excuse for not bringing presents this year .. in fact I wouldn't even descuss the gift exchange & hope she's not thinking too much about it either ... that should be the last thing on her mind right now ... she'll be happy to have her family supporting her ... that's what Christmas is about ... family ... not presents ... if you don't make a big deal about it .. then she won't !

Tell her there won't be any gift exchanges, but suprise her Christmas morning with one for her anyways.

I'm in hopes this won't offend her. Let her know in another room alone, how you hope she isn't offended, but that Christmas just isn't Christmas, without the tradition. She'll understand.

shop at the 99Cents Only Store.
No, I'm not being funny. You could get some cute little gifts and have fun with it. Say nothing over $5 each.

Tell her not to worry about stuff for your family. Instead of presents at all, why don't you take her out somewhere. Do all the things she likes to do with her. What restaurants she likes, hobbies, etc.
