You have to be a real clean cut wuss to think there are any unsafe neighborhoods in Vancouver. Everyone loves to dump on East Hastings because its filled with people who walk around hopped up on god knows what all the time--that and beggars looking for money or help (or just a sympathetic ear). I used to be one of these scared-by-east-hastings people in high school but then I moved downtown and quickly realized it is not scary at all.

If you really want neighborhoods to avoid, you should try some of the non-touristy cities in Mexico or other Central or South American countries.

Avoid the areas surrounding east hastings, from Main to Nanaimo ... east of nanaimo it gets remarkably better, some nice neighborhoods, with lower rents than other parts of vancouver.

Well none of Vancouver is super unsafe. I mean I wouldn't go walking around at night down in some parts of downtown and surrounding areas. When you say avoided do you mean like to live in or? More info would help please!

i could circumvent east vancouver even with the undeniable fact that it would desire to be low-priced yet its not the appropriate area of vancouver! West vancouver is costly so circumvent that too... North vancouver would desire to be solid i lived there and its not that high priced...desire that helped! i cant think of of alternative factors on the 2d...
