Definitely. A few weeks ago people were moaning it was too hot, now its "freezing", people whinge if they have to walk more than 100 yards, office workers whinge that sitting on their **** staring at a computer screen makes them "tired", councils ban sparklers on health and safety grounds, cut down trees in case conkers or acorns fall on people heads, and I recently saw someone cleaning a carpet wearing - get this - steel toecapped rigger boots, a hard hat, full length overalls, hi vis jacket, goggles, a face mask and thick gloves. Cleaning a f*****g carpet! Was the machine filled with nerve gas? No it was filled with soapy water! Unfortunately, due to the compensation culture, where people sue you if you look at them the wrong way, companies and organisations are forced to cover their tracks, and civil serpents have to justify stealing our taxes in the form of unearned salaries, by making up more and more ridiculous regulations for them to enforce.

We are already breeding weaklings! Unfortunately [and I say this with respect to citizens of the USA] the 'compensation culture' which our tiny country now has [we're only one third the size of Texas for goodness sake] was introduced via the TV as US lawyers found a new way of making billions. Unfortunately when it arrived in the UK, the civil service saw an opportunity for job creation and came up with all kinds of departments to oversee health & safety - at work, at home, at sea, in the air, etc etc.

What I can't understand is why do we now need the Health & Safety Executive - the laws are all in place - just let us get on with it now we know the rules. If an employer is not following the law - he knows he can be sued by an employee, if a supermarket leaves unsafe stuff around, they know they can be sued. So - just stop breaking the law and learn to act responsibly!

The consequences of the ever expanding nanny state is poverty financial, moral and integral. I would not convict anyone who were to lash out at the perpetrators of these insults to our intelligence and maturity.
