Anyone appointed to office and approved by the Senate stays.

Bolton was not approved by the Senate. He serves as a recess appointment.

No, they get a free ride until 2008. You only have to approve the new Cabinet after a presidential election.

Bolton has never been approved, Bush slid him in during a session break. He will have to go through the process during the next session of Congress.

Think he'll pass?

No, once a Cabinet member is approved, they stay in their respective office.

As for Bolton he has to be confirmed because he was only a recess appointment.

Thank you so much for asking an intelligent, non-partisan question. :)
