I'm sure almost anything you decide to bring will be enjoyed by all. I would probably bring something not too heavy (and easy to make) like deviled eggs. Maybe you could make/bring some sort of dip and crackers to go along with the dip. It's nice to have a variety of food at Thanksgiving. Enjoy your holiday!

It depends on when the meal will be served. For a lunch meal probably anything that will warm up well as it will probably be passed over for the meal. If it's a supper meal, then something light, like tortilla roll ups, or a veggie platter with a colorful bell pepper cored (keep the top but cut off the core) and filled with your favorite dip. The top can be used as a lid. Once I went to the grocery store and found some cheap but really large sugar cookies with a nice design on them. I had some out of the ordinary jams and jellies I thought I'd never use and sandwiched them together. I used very little "spread" and it looked like they were store bought. Everyone raved over them and thought I had spent BIG bucks on something that cost under $2. haha

alcoholic beverages is always a favorite. wont fill you up like food and puts you in a great mood while you socialize and wait to eat. there are lots of great drink recipes you could find and also use fun, creative glasses to pour it in.
as far as actual food, thanksgiving dinner is rarely good for you and non-fattening so a good appetizer should be light and healthy. a veggie and/or fruit tray is perfect for that. crackers and cheese are good too but more filling and likely to be over-eaten so stay away from salty foods with lots of carbs like bread, meats, and cheeses...thats what the dinner's for.
a veggie/fruit tray can also be made more enjoyable by the sauces you use to go with it. you can get lots of recipe ideas using all types of dipping sauces such as sour cream, yogurt, cheese speads, peanut butter, etc. also, try adding an extra tray thats creative and fun for the kids to enjoy too. especially since they're usually the first to complain of any hunger and the least patient to wait before a meal is done. if lots of guys are there and watching the football game, maybe you can also add a tray for them that's festive and decorative according to the teams playing. and since men have a larger appetite, maybe they can handle the crackers, cheese, and meat kind of trays with extra chips and beer.
enjoy!!!

Baba ganouj: a delicious Middle Eastern roasted eggplant dip with garlic and tahini (sesame paste).
Here's a recipe for you:
Ingredients:
2 eggplants
the juice from one lemon
1/2 cup tahini
5 garlic clove
1/4 cup parsley sprigs -- minced (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
black pepper -- to taste
2 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
Directions:
Preheat oven to broiling. Cut off the stem ends of the eggplants and prick them all over with a fork. Microwave them for about 6 minutes, and then place them on a oiled pan, which you should then place directly in the oven's broiler. Let them roast until completely cooked (about 5 to 6 minutes). When they're sagging, wrinkled, crumpled, and totally soft, you'll know they're ready. Remove them from the oven, and let cool. Scoop the insides out and mash well. Combine with rest of ingredients, except olive oil. Chill well. Drizzle the oil over the top before serving. Serve with assorted pita or lavash bread

because of the fact the meal seems to be properly in hand, your buddy ought to probably lean in the direction of bringing a bunch/hostess present somewhat of something for the table (except they have especially asked for a dish to pass). candies, nuts, small floral association, great trip-scented candle or sachets could all be great. chuffed Thanksgiving!

Crab dip or a cheese fondue.
Something light and fun that won't compete with dinner!

i think that a veggie tray w/ poss cracker is good. you wouldn't want to have something that people would eat a lot of & be full before dinner.
