Hold your finger out for him to clutch. Or get him a little trolley or pushchair that he can hang onto. Don't worry too much about him toppling, they get used to it and are not usually too bothered about it if you aren't. Bite your tongue and wait for moans before rushing to rescue him! My tongue is at least an inch shorter! Just make the spaces he plays in as safe as possible, moving sharp or hard objects out of his way and give him plenty of space. Enjoy this time of discovery with your baby. It's a fabulous time!

AAAAAh great. Give him a stroller thats on wheels and stable so he will walk with that support. Also leave the child sometimes letting them do stuff is the best way forward. Keep the floor clear from sharp objects and preferably like lay out blankets over there. . You can hold him from the front too, then his hands, then a finger until hes confident to try and let go. Your his mother your nature will tell you whats best for him.
Remember kids will fall over and youve got to be there to catch them, pick them up and rub there booh boohs. You cant walk for them

The best thing you can do is to praise him and let him learn. It is wonderful that he is taking steps at ten months but many children do not take steps or walk until twelve months. Your son is right on target it sounds like. Most babies get excited when they start to walk lose balance and fall. It sounds like he is doing fabulous!

My 9 month old is doing the same thing. You just have to let him figure out to trust his environment, and he's still working on balancing too. I got my son an activity walker. He loves pushing that thing around! You can get them for around $20 new, but I'm sure you could find one much cheaper in a consignment shop...especially since he won't be using it long.
Go baby, go!

He'll get it in his own good time, he's just proud of his new found skill, once the novelty of that wears off he'll move onto the next step. Just be there to catch him and praise him! Enjoy these precious moments, they'll stay with you forever

Wow! An early walker! There's really nothing you can do to help him walk better. He has to figure it all out on his own. However, you can be there to catch him if he falls or baby proof the room(s) that he's doing most of this walking in. Expect some bumps and bruises until he gets it down! CONGRATS!

Wow, the first steps. Mines 8 months and just starting to let go of the furniture.
I think you should just let him get on with it. He needs to learn to catch his balance. I did this with my son when he was learning to sit on his own. i would let him fall (only on carpeted floors) and with in a day or two he learnt how to stop himself. There are probably people who disagree with this, but he won't learn if you don't let him!
Good luck

Aww, that is so cute! The little guy is bound to be excited, my two were exactly the same, always falling over their own feet! Haha, he'll get the hang of it soon enough, I don't think there's really anything you can do other then help him practice and keep him way from sharp/dangerous objects! :o)

He will learn just as we all did, this will be a good story when he gets older to tell him about and he will soon get the concept of one foot in front of the other just be patient

Thats sweet, but unfortunately the bumps and bruises come with it. One thing though, if you have a coffee table take it out of the room. After my first child got stitches, I took it out of the room, and did the same with my other two. They're very dangerous.
