Make sure you only talk to him with a lawyer present. Do not call yoru integrity into question by sitting down with him otherwise. The protective order will mean squart in court if he does something to you and can prove you were actually in his presence. Call your lawyer. Don't do anything silly. Be smart.

It depends on what you want to gain. If it will be nothing but a shouting match, why would you waste your time? If you think the 2 of you can actually accomplish something, then yes, as long as you have a neutral 3rd party to be the mediator. 8 years is a long time to have invested in a relationship. I was where you are now and I was married 15 years with 3 kids. So make sure the reasons why you want to talk to him and with a mediator and set some ground rules, but see what happens with it. Maybe you can work some stuff out. GL

Ok I assume at some point there was a reason for the order however if you have your heart set to see him you will. Please let someone know that you are meeting him and how long you plan to be meet in public coffee shop or something. and when you depart go out of the way to make sure he is done and at the end make sure to call your friend and let them know you are ok or better yet have a friend go with you and just sit in the car if possible

Call the local police department and ask. As I understand it, in some states, willing contact with the person you have an order against will void the order.

Don't even attempt it. He can be thrown in jail if he makes any contact with you, whether you initiated it or not. The only legal way is for you to go to court and have the protection order removed.

Depending on where you live. But I imagine it is not a good idea for your sake. You filed this action against him and you will be breaking it's terms.
