Love them or hate them it has to be the New York Yankees. No matter what they do, win or lose, they are always the main focus of any baseball conversation. The Yankees franchise is the most successful sports franchise in professional sports. Everyone knows it and no matter how much people say they hate the Yankees there isn't one baseball who doesn't wish there team was as successful. It's a fact, and as Casey Stangel once said, "You can look it up"!!!

Doesn't really apply in baseball which is a highly regional sport as opposed to football where audiences will watch regardless of what team is playing but I'd go with the New York Yankees. They are probably the main reason interleague play has continued. Every N.L. team wants a chance to have them visit every couple of years for guaranteed sellouts and a huge merchandising bonanza.

I would answer this question from this persepctive.. Assume a non American was asked to name a baseball team..
As much as I hate them.. I would say the mostly readily identifiable team in America is..
The New York Yankees..
The Yankees symbolize, to an extent, America in the rest of the world's eyes.. I hate saying it.. but find fault with it. Germany.. Russia, Japan.. even Kenya or Australia.. the Yankees are easily the most recognizable team in America..

my answer would be the Cardinals, but I think the Yankees are Americas team,They have 26 WS championships. Plus they are always talked about across this great country.

I hate to admit it, but i would have to go with the Yankees. Im a marlins fan and it was BRILLIANT to see annibal sanchez in his first career start shut out the only team that hadn;t been shutout at that point. go marlins!
