I don't want to get a tan. I want my skin to look healthier. I am trying to drink more water, and I have stopped eating sweet treats. My friends compare my skin to a white ghost. Is there any food I can eat that can make my skin look healthier and maybe a bit darker?

Your friends are mean. Try using Jergen's natural effects daily moisturizer to add a few 'golden highlights' to your skin. You honestly won't look good with a tan. You might want to try a bronzing gel, a very light one, instead.

If used sparingly, these things will darken your skin a bit, but not make you look super tan. Try the Neutregena Build-a-tan, or Coppertone Gradual Tan. The Olay Touch of Sun and Jergen's equivalent works well too. I don't think food contributes much to skin color, just skin health. I'd try the lotions, or lay outside for short periods of time when it is warm. Go out for 20 minutes at a time if you burn easily. Spray tans work well if you go to a nicer tanning salon. You only need to go once for a subtle darkening. Good Luck! Just don't go tan...redheads look so much better paler. Pale is very high fashion.

You can always use a bornzer as mentioned above... but honestly just take good care of your skin... wash, tone and moisturize daily. Pale skin is beautiful, especially with red hair! Look at Shirley Manson from the band Garbage... she is a beautiful woman, and a sex symbol to many... she has bright red hair and very pale skin. Relish in your natural beauty! :)

Does it really matter? If you feel good about yourself on the inside than you would naturally feel good on the outside. Never change who you are because that's the way God created you and I bet whether your darker or pale you are a beautiful person. Besides look at Peppy Long Stocking she was a pretty red head.

A spray tan or sunless tanner (IF you get the right one) will enhance your skin, make it all one tone, and give you a little more color....
