I sometimes dream in black & white, and sometimes in colour.
I always thought that apart from geothermal energy (glowing magma and the such-like) all light could be tracked back to stars (usually the Sun)???? But when I'm dreaming I've got my eyes closed??? Is it something to do with quanta??

Many Thanks,
Jason.

I think it is your mind projecting things coming up from the creative parts of the mind into the visual parts of the brain. there is no actual light but yet say a memmory of it in your brain. your eyes as you probbably know only recieve information that is than procecced in the brain, thus when you are in pitch black that area can be stimulated by other impulses foom other parts of the brain active at that time. it is known that during sleep various areas of the brain are active that are little or not at all active during waking state, thus, these parts might trigger some kind of reactions of memory recovering that is not active in awakening state.
if that would occur all the time you would be dreaming constantly wich would be very confusing cause you wouldent be able to determine what was real and what was a dream, nou that is also debateble but that is another discusion.
eniway you could say that the light you seem to see is bio-electric and thus yet another kind of (imagenery) light.

You have asked a very profound question.
You really have to ask yourself why do I experience light at all. I mean why do you have the experience of light and colour from an electromagnetic field (light) colliding with the rods and cones on the back of your retina?
Once you have figured that out ie: what is conciousness, then I think you can answer your own question. Good luck Jason.

you only dream in rem sleep (the deepest part of the cycle) these dreams are always in black and white. your colour dreams are comingfrom your sub consicious and to a certain degree you can act on these dreams (make choices etc) the colour you see in these dreams is just your brain choosing the colours of objects from your memory , not light as it were !

The light in your dreams comes from your memory because you remember what light and colors are like.

It is the light of imagination, energy, screams, laughter, tears, love, hurt, art, rage and the memory of the ancient sunlight of youth, when we were golden, starry and ran like shy otters in the streams of happiness.

I think your question would go : whats a dream.....its all in the subconscious....but then how do you project the light from you dreams? its supposed to be an imagination (can't substantiate so how do we interpret it as light anyway?
