Hi,

There are some very simple things you can do to determine when you ovulate.

1. Take your temperature every morning when you wake up. You temperature will rise when you ovulate and remain higher until your period comes.
2. Check your mucus. When your mucus is stretchy like egg white it is most fertile and is usuallys good indication that you have or are about to ovulate.

A charity called LIFE UK has a fertility programme which I highly recommend. Also an American organisation called the Couple to Couple Leauge offers an excellent home study course.

Good luck to you!

Well, there are two ways to look at this.

First, you can do lots of things to tell when you're ovulating, which is the time you want to have sex. You can buy what's called an OPK, an Ovulation Predictor Kit. They should be on the same shelf as the pregnancy tests at a store. This works by detecting hormones, just like a pregnancy test.

You can also try what's called "temping" or "charting". Buy a basal thermometer and follow the instructions inside to make a chart of your temperatures every morning. Look up "BBT" or "basal body temperature" online for really specific info on how to do this. There are websites for it too, that make the chart for you and interpret it to tell when you ovulate. I like FertilityFriend.com. This works because your body temperature is a little higher after ovulation.

The other way to do this is to get treated for your irregular periods. When you go to your annual gynecologist visit, mention that you're trying to conceive and ask about the irregular cycles. You could have a condition, like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), or a hormone deficiency. Once you get that treated your periods should become more regular and it will be easier to keep track of your cycle and conceive.

Good luck!

I would ask your gp for a referral for and ultrasound and to see a gynacologist to have it checked out. Best to do it now as I know from experience that the waiting lists are long and it could take a few months unless you pay to go private. I'm also 28 and was only having periods every 3 or 4 months, but they discovered I had polycystic ovaries which isn't serious and once it's treated it should start you ovulating. I definately wouldn't go back on the pill as that will ut you back to square one as your body would have to readjust. It is worth doing an ovulation test after your next period (the in pack instructions explain when is the best time to do it, have one in ready for your next period) as I found out I wasn't ovulating which gave my gp the push to send me for more tests.

I think it would be best for you to see your doctor, to get your cycle steady. Once that is done then you can go ahead and start with the baby making. Once your cylce is steady, your conception date is 14 days after your first cycle. Also try not to be intimate all of the time. I was once told by friends that being intimate all of the time could make it difficult to get pregnant bec you have all of the dead sperm in there. I don't know if I helped you or not. I hope that I did though. Good luck with everything!

Sounds like you need a fertility specialist. It's not normal to only have your period 4 times a year. I have an Aunt who was very irregular and got lucky and had one son and was never able to conceive again and an cousin who was irregular and had to adopt. The fact that you got pregnant means you have options but you are going to need help getting pregnant more then likely and help to keep the baby in you full term. I will pray for you and I hope you get the baby you are dreaming about and I am sorry for your horrible loss.

If I were you, I would contact your GP and ask for a referral, then they will carry out the tests needed to determine if there is an underlying problem, getting in the way of conceiving.
I am really sorry to hear that you have been ttc for so long, I was ttc for almost 1 and a half years and got a BFP on Wednesday, don't give up!

Yes, if you were having your period then the chance is lessened....but you still can get pregnant. So that would make your kids about 11 months apart. If you don't want them that close, then don't wait for that to happen and use some RELIABLE birth control. Obviously condoms aren't working for you!

How old are you? Age could have an effect on your cycle. You could be going through the menopause. Best get this ruled out just incase. Is there any health problems? Think you and your husband are best to get checked out and find out why as 2 years is along time. good lucl xx

My daughter swears by Dr Miriam Stoppard's Book - you only have to have it in the house to get preggers - and my daughter even managed to have a daughter after following the instructions third time around!

you should go to a doctor and get back on the pill to get regular.

Or you can go on ebay and buy ovulation test strips from a medcal whole saler, you can get 50 for about 20 bucks, and just pee on one ever day to find out if you're ovulating, and when.
