Hi,
You have to play 20 RATED games to advance to show a rating. So don't play in the social lounges unless you are sure they are rated before you sit and start a game. After that you will fall into higher ranks (colors) at 50 point breaks. So, play well so you will start out at a pretty good rating. I really think it is so you have it down pat to start playing with higher rated players? This link has all the rating systems for various Yahoo! Games. Have fun playing!
