Wow, at 10 weeks my son was only drinking about 2-3 ounces, and he was 10lb 8oz at birth.

Have you talked to her pediatrician? The doctor would know best if it is normal for her.

That is too much for the baby to be taking in at one time. If your baby is drinking that much formula that means they are not full. What you need to do is start the baby out slow with some baby rice cereal. If you feed the baby by spoon then just give her a few spoon or better yet put some rice cereal in the bottle with a bigger size nipple hole and then she will be full, but only use the gerber rice cereal or any brand of the baby rice cereal, no other flavor. This will also help the baby to sleep through the night. It is not unusual to feed some babies in this way when they are that young. My kids are from 18 to 20 now and this worked back then for babies that needed more formula then most. Also in the infant section of walmart or any infant department where they sell bottles, you can find what they call and infafeeder which looks like a fat bottle that you can put the small amount of cereal mixed with formula and she will suck it down cause it has the right size hole in that nipple. Dont worry that your baby will gain weight from this cause she wont, what she will gain weight from is too much formula...Those babies are called milk babies and they get rather pudgy...my kids did not

No. He doesn't have the enzymes etc to digest it anyway and it will fill his stomach with things that he could react to with an allergy. The World Health Organization as well as the local regional health authority recommends starting solids NO earlier than 6 months old. You can still revert back to breastfeeding, which is much healthier and cheaper. If you take some Motilium or natural things like nursing teas from the health food store, this will start the milk flow up again. This would help a lot both economically and health-wise. If not, there's not much you can do. Babies cost money. Good luck. Sarah

I know those colic babies are a challenge, I had one too! Have you tried giving her drops of "Mylacom" or "Little Tummies", that does help. Does she seem a little plugged up? If so, try giving her some dark Kayro Syrup with water to help move her bowels, and gas. The end of the colon is on the left side, so laying her on that side, might also help the gas pass in her tummy. Colic usually leave by 2-3 months. I feel for ya! Good luck!!!!

Colic can be dealt with by using over the counter mylicon drops. They are very effective and there is no documented adverse outcome related to over dosage At 16 weeks introduce her to rice cereal and add a fruit at 1 week intervals. Talk to your pediatrician and get some feedback. You might try smaller more frequent feedings. It could be she is very hungry when she gets her feeding. I think she'll be fine. As you know all kids are somewhat different from each other.

How many times a day is she eating......I would ask a doctor because if she is still eating every 3 hours.....and sleeping pretty much through the night it is a bit much. That is a lot and it is weird that her weight is not showing that she eats that many ozs. my daughter is 11 weeks old and almost 15 pounds she eats a little over 4 ozs every 3 hours except through the night. I would talk to her doctor....it 's not going to hurt!!!!

Check with her doctor, but maybe she is getting comfort from sucking on the bottle. If you are not doing it already, try a pacifier. Every child is different, so this may be the way she is. And you can't compare her eating now, to when she is a toddler or older. Her only job in life right now is to eat, and gain weight. Babies know when to stop, and when to keep eating.

16oz at once is tonnes.

I wouldn't worry about how often she eats, as she is probably puking up some.

Normally I would say feed on demand, but maybe try limiting her to smaller amounts closer together.

Of course you should really talk to your doctor.

Also if your baby were breastfed and needing to eat all the time it is a sign of acid reflux as breastmilk is an antacid. Don't know about formula.

That is quite a bit. Normal is about 8 oz at a time. Is she one any food yet (i.e rice cereal, etc...) If she is taking 16 oz of formula at a time she may be ready for food as the formula is just not making her full. Talk to your pediatrician.

Her crying may be because she is over full. Full of milk or full of gas.

In my opinion, that's way too much for such a young age, could this be causing the colic ? Try finding something else to quiet her, rocking, holding, swaddling, a swing, a buggy ride, car ride. I would have a chat with your Dr.
