Gay people are getting more rights and more social acceptance currently. And "officialy" it is getting better, since at least we are not having stones throwed at us or being killed for being gay. (Well in most civilised places at least).
I can't help, but to relate this situation with the black community. Black people were treated so badly, they were considered "animals" but now it is ok. Well not ok, but like us, they dont get VERY bad time anymore, and lets admit it they can be "openly" black and face less trouble than us.
My question is the following: Will we ever reach the state where we can be openly gay as much as being "openly" black and the f.ag word will sound as shocking as the N word? Will there ever be a time where parents will find out their child is gay, and accept it as much as if their child just told them that he/she likes rock music? Because, lets be honest now, we dont fight as hard...and more important a gay person is less likely to attack someone physically

or verbally...We just rise above it, and make homophobes feel free to say whatever they want. I am not implying by ANY means that black people are violent etc. and I am not making a comparison here, since both communities have many differences also... I am just wondering, do you think that in 50 years it is going to be normal to see to guys kissing without people having the SLIGHTEST bad thought in their heads?

I would like to hear opinions and thoughts.
Thanks.

goodgrammarishot, I am not going through the "choice" chapter AGAIN, I really cant be bothered...if at some point of your life you had to choose whether to be straight or gay, then you should reconsider some things about your sexuality.

I fully understand your point. However; I have to say that Blacks in America, still have a long ways to go regarding equality. In many instances we are greatly discriminated against still. Our recent midterm election was an indication of racial discrimination. Congressman Herald Ford, Jr., had a very negative political ad, geared to those who believe people need to be segregated. Oprah Winfrey; with her billions of dollars has been frown upon and discriminated in specialty shops. America, still has not accepted the fact that a Black person could be President of the United States.

Indeed; just as gays have made some strides regarding civil rights; the end road to equality is still regarded in the far distance. Nonetheless; on a very controversy level, white gay men may achieve the perceptions of equality; prior to the rest of the gay community worldwide.

I like your post!

I think some states are more ready to accept this than others. I live in the deep South and let me tell you....acceptance will not happen here any time soon. Our equal rights appeals will have to go to the Surpreme Court to ever get a shot at being equal. As a matter of fact my state has banned gay marriage or anything to do with gay rights! I'm sure some will cheer for this but it's very sad for those of us in truely and genuinly committed relationships. Folks scream about gays and lesbians destroying the sanctity of marriage. No, I don't beleive that. The sanctity of marriage was ruined a long time ago in the HETERO community when the divorce rate began to increase by leaps and bounds and when kids started becoming statistics from divorced households. But yes, I do think we'll reach equality but it will be a long road and a long hard fight.

I believe time will make a difference... and things will become more open for us gays. The way I see it..at least we don't have to worry about over-population... This world is getting to be so populated and all these straights are making babies and wondering what to do with the current governmental problems associated the world population....At least when I wanted children all I did was take in foster children who needed love and guidance and have raised them to be loving and caring adults now. I being from Alaska and being native have been fortunate to be openly gay and a caring person who would help anyone who needed help. I have never been ashamed of kissing a guy in public to show affection and receive guidance. This world I hope makes drastic changes in their way of thinking and appreciate how much we help those in need...And it is so true we are not violent but caring people who want to make a difference...So all you straight people out there.. take a look and learn from us...Like I said at least we are not over-populating this world....I believe in non-violence and don't believe in war....So the USA should not get involved with other countries problems and let them settle their own differences instead of shoving Freedom into their faces... I hope our newly elected officials see this and take heed. Thank you for bringing light to this issue and god bless...

There will always be people who give gays a hard time. There are still many parent who will disown a child because they brought home a black person. The laws have worked in the favor of gays (as far as fair treatment) but many peoples heart have yet to follow. You can not say fag in a profession setting; that is not accepted. Some people fear gays. They fear that they will "catch" their gayness. There will always be mean and hateful people who regardless of the law, will seek to destroy.

As you can tell by the answers above there will always be ignorance and bigotry. However I think as more and more of our communities are educated and more and more people recognize that being GLBT is not something you choose and as more and more GLBT folks come out and live out lives, that things will get better.

I'm totally out at work, at my church, in my neighborhood, at my kids' schools. And frankly my wife and I haven't had any negative experiences by being out. I think that's a factor or living in a well educated community.

I personally think that straight people will always have that "ick" factor BECAUSE they are straight. Frankly I have that "ick" factor when I think about straight relationships. However that doesn't mean that it's okay for people to descriminate or gay bash. People need to learn that it's never okay to belittle or berate another human simply for who they are.

all the above. as quickly as your saved then all your sins are coated with the help of Christs sacrifice on the bypass. The sins you have committed and the sins you will dedicate. that is God's atonement. you in addition to mght make an apology once you dedicate the sin. that is a factor of "understanding your salvation" It exhibits which you realize your sinning and with any luck you circulate and sin not greater. The previous testomony type had an annual time of atonement while the sacrifice befell for the fee of sins. there is not any "sin forgiveness plan. if your a Christian no quantity of sinning will shop you out of heaven, yet once you blatantly sin then you definately (and others) could contemplate whether you incredibly are a Christian through fact if your a follower of Christ, as "christian" implies, you're able to do the failings that Christ commanded.

Nostromos

I sincerely hope to see it in my lifetime.

I know that the rights of homosexuals in this country are at an all time high and I hope that they will continue to climb we just have to continue to fight united in our belief that one day acceptance will come and we will have the ability not just the right to walk down the street holding hands with our married spouses of which ever gender and the only response will be isn't that nice that those two are so much in love.

Sadly Black people still get treated poorly. So I guess what I can say is it will get better but there will always be someone or a group, area, etc that will still be profiling and intolerant....
