I was curious about your question. The website below was an interesting source. Metric Time is decimal based instead of base 6. Standard time measurement is now called Anglo-Babylonian Time (ABT). The second is defined as 1/60 1/60 1/24 of the earth's rotation. 24 hours ABT = 86,400 seconds. 25 hours MT = 250,000 seconds according to the proposal. That would mean 25 hours in a metric day. Another proposal had 100 units per day and noon was called 50.

Metric Time is a proposal, but proponents may still want to use the term second, but the interval could be different.

As you have noticed, even in the "Metric System" (or SI) time is not rooted in base-10. Instead it still relies on a base-60 system invented by the ancient Babylonians.

During the French Revolution, France tried to institute a 'Metric Time', also called 'French Decimal Time'. It was an attempt to create a decimalized time system (based on 10).

Their system had
10 days in a week
10 hours in a day
100 minutes in an hour
100 seconds in a minute

It never caught on...

All basic metric units use "seconds" as the measurement of time.

Metric was made to be simple (unlike imperial... U.S. units), don't overcomplicate things.

The site given will show basic units, as well as derived units (which are just various basic units multiplied or divided together.... the derived unit should tell you a lot about the equation it interacts with!!)
