my daughter went to two high schools in two different states.....and worlds apart in atmosphere. She went from a large surburban HS to a small rural HS to start her junior year.
She hated leaving her old friends. It was hard in that respect. She didn't mind leaving the drug problem, the disrespctful students, the large classes.
After the first week in the smaller hs, she began developing friendships.....much closer friendships than she had as a general rule in the larger HS.
We let her and our younger middle school aged daughter pick the area we bought a house based on the school they wanted to go to. We toured the schools......then started looking for a house.
That was 7 years ago. Now, both are married to local boys and are happy we moved. They have no desire to move back to the old neighborhood.

yeah i went to 3 high schools,
first was an all girls school which totally sucked, my best friends have always been guys so i didn't fit in at all, i hated it there, it was really snobby but mum wouldn't let me change schools so i did everything i could to get myself expelled. i was there 3 1/2 years. they didn't want me to go cause i was really good at english and they wanna keep all their 'good' students so they look good. they even said to me that they were dissapointed they wouldn't be able to lay claim to me when i got my stories published. i told them to go stick it where the sun don't shine.
anyway.... second one was a regular local high school, but i was only there a week before i broke some chick's nose. she called me a s l u t !!!! you shouldn't judge people before you know them!! geez, just coz I get along with the guys......
and the third was HEAPS better, a little further away, but at least i was happy there, i had decent friends, who don't care what your parents bank balance is or where you live (UNLIKE that first school) it was a bit weird at first, but people soon warmed up to me. lucky them.

I had to attend three different HS since my family kept moving. That was way back in the 1970's.
First we moved accross country and next to another town.
It was a major event in my life and it was horrible.
