The inside lining of my handbag is unraveling resulting in my having to navigate criss-crossed strings to get to my belongings. It's a nice-looking knockoff of a Prada bag and so far, the local dry cleaner and seamstress have said they don't handle handbags. Please tell me what kind of place fixes or replaces the inside lining of handbags.

I would suggest the local shoe repair. They work on leather items (or vinyl in this case) and will be able to repair the bag. Chances are he might be able to replace the lining totally with a lining similar to what PRADA uses.

Good luck.

You could do this yourself. Just undo the stitching that holds the lining in place, and take it out of the bag. Then make yourself a pattern using the old lining as the template. Cut your new lining out of whatever you want to use (material stores often have different linings on clearance). Sew it up. Make sure you finish off the cut edges so they don't unravel. (From the sound of it, this is what was wrong with the original lining.) Then sew it back in the bag.

You might want to try a shoe repair shop. I know our local shop also repairs handbags - not sure about the lining though.
