When I really start losing my humor then I do tend to go away & come back later, but sometimes I don't catch myself in time & I start to snark off. It's hard to tell also with the written words if someone is joking or not because there's no facial expression, or tone of voice to help the responders out.
That's not an excuse either, just a reason why you might have gotten some answers that thought you were being serious.
