I am not a big ebayer but some of my colleagues are.
They explained me how they play. They don’t participate during whole the time of the auction, in order to keep the price low, but they set their alarm clock before 1 minute of the end of the auction. Then they start pushing the refress button to see if there are any other "professionals" in the competition. If not they set up the overbid amount and before 2..5sec of the end they send it. That is so simple and it can cause so much disappointment for many of us. Now, you know how it goes, best advise is to do the same :)

I used to get outbid now I beat them at their own game. Before you bid study how the bidding works. I can build up quite a picture of the bidders who are bidding on items and exactly how the auction will go. If they are silly bidders with no sense who just want to win the item regardless of how much it will cost them I do not bother. Best is to work out how much you want to bid and stick to it. Don't keep bidding, wait to the closing minutes before placing your final bid and hope you don't get outbid.

Lol im the worst for that, what you need to do is at the last 3mins put in the max amount you would go up to, that way the others users are stressing putting in bids and you are ok and relaxed. If you are still outbid this way then atleast you never paid more for the item than you would want to or worth. good luck, and happy bidding

Simply do the same.
Don't bit 'till about 10 seconds before auction ends.

Yes horrible isn't it!
But what great feeling to win sometime by paying just 1p (English pence) more than the previous winning bidders maximum, in the last minute.
You can do this by putting your maximum bid, 1p more than a whole pound in the final 20 seconds.
Hope it wasn't me who outbid you.

I am there to outbid all others, so what's the problem.
Make the effort and you will win once you gain the experience of bidding and timing.

like most of the above have said wait till the last few minutes, put in your maximum price you are willing to pay and hey presto! providing you have bid more than the last bid you should win, or put in a few pence over the actual pounds as people tend to go for round figures!

people, people, people.

Its an auction site. Its designed for people to try and outbid each other.

And when they do..... you complain.

Just put the boot on the other foot and remember that EVERYTIME you win something..... you outbid SOMEONE ELSE.

its kind of pointless doing a 10 day auction. the only action is in the last hour or so....be good to do a 36 hour auction option.

It makes me really mad but you need to sign up at auctionsniper.com and then you can snipe auctions, which means the computer will automatically put in your max bid in the last 3 sec of an auction. You'll win alot more
