Is it the twanginess of it? The slide guitar? The trailor trash themed lyrics of some of it? For those of you who can't stand this genre, why come?

Its usually the themes of the songs, and to be honest where I was raised (Buck Owens land) a lot of the cowboys are very disrespectful to people that aren't cowboys. If you are from Bakersfield and went to North High you more than understand what im saying... don't get me wrong I have met some nice cowboys but where I am from there is a stereo type that gives the whole feel especially the music and image a bad bad name

Some people associate country music with prejudice, depressed, rednecks... which I might be... but anyways I love country music! It's the bomb!! And what's the point with rap? First of all... I ain't got a chain to hang! Second the only time I'm gonna be ridin dirty is when I'm muddin and I really don't think that's what they were talkin about! There's no point to it!! Rock is ok I reckon. But talk about country being depressing! Just about all the rock songs I hear are about death and demons and crap!! Geez!!! That's just what I think though!

That's a good question. I don't understand why people are so ashamed of country music. I'm black and I listen to Country and i absolutely love it. Actually country music doesn't have a trailer trash theme to it. Most country music talks about love and such. i guess most people hate it because it isn't dirty like rap and related filth. I can actually listen to Country music without feeling like i have to clean my ears. With most teens nowadays if the music isn't calling a girl a whore or talking about sex and drugs, then it isn't worth listening to. It's a sad, sad world I'm living in....

Man! those answers are funny! I listen to it when my daughter gets in the car, but those people haven't heard country music in a while! So many artists are hip and trendy and not singing about loss at all! I hear alot of self-reliance and pride from the younger artists that want young people to be strong.

It depresses the h*ll out of me. It's all about losing, lost love, being left behind, loneliness---geez, enough already.

I dunno, but I think its because of the fact that it represents rednecks. I personally love it, although, specially on the road again, by willie nelson.
