Its a toshiba laptop, sells for $1000 canadian. Good computer for the price? It comes with a windows vista premium express upgrade for free, What is that? I can also upgrade to a 120gb hard drive and 1.73GHz processor for $100 more, is it worth it? I am a university student and I'd use it for schoolwork, internet, MSN messaging and playing the sims2

I was also wondering what that windows vista thing was and also if the upgrade would be a good idea or if it isn't much of a difference for a $100 price increase. It also comes with Microsoft® Office OneNote™ 2003, what is that and would i still need to purchase microsoft office(i can get the student and tescher edition for 30$ if i purchase this notebook)

It will meet and beat all of your needs. I love the SATA drives as they are faster than the standard ATA drives (1.5 or more). Toshiba has always been a little more cutting ege than most. I generally do prefer the AMD chip to the Intel chips since you usually get a little more for your $$ with processor power. I generally would prefer a slightly larger screen but the smaller ones (which is still not that small) lighten the load so it is a little trade off. The Vista is the "new" XP. It is a nice option to have - it gives you the choice of staying with XP or moving up to the latest and the greatest when you are ready without paying the price of the upgrade. It is a good idea to wait on the upgrades anyway since you will need to determine that all of the apps and devices you are running will be compatible with Vista.

if your question is "is this computer good enough to do schoolwork use the internet msnmessenger and the sims2" then the answer is yes. if your question is "is this computer the cheapest to do all those things" then the answer is no. the specs are good but there are comparable laptops that are less expensive(im not canadian tho so im not sure about the markup) on black friday(the friday after thanksgiving) you can go to bestbuy and pick one up similar to that one for 400 bucks. keep an eye out over the next month.

enable me preface by pointing out that i'm a qualified Dell and HP Reseller. I have not something adverse to Macs in any respect. in truth, i'm especially inspired by the present Macbooks. in case you want the Microsoft operating device, the Dell Vostro computer has been my modern-day p.c.. for best value for lowend laptops. in my opinion, you're evaluating apples to oranges. they don't analyze to at least one yet another as they both have diverse advantages. My specialist opinion: Macbooks - strong (outfitted on Unix platform), strong courses, ordinary, extra rigid criteria, more effective video enhancing potential, ability to run XP virtually (utilizing software). Dell Vostro - Comes with XP or Vista, versatile with software, a good number of hardware thoughts, a lot less severe priced. i propose you communicate over with your instructors first and ask what they're going to be utilizing. ultimately, you'll come across a lot less topics in case you whichever platform they're utilizing.

Your question is that of a stupefying question that even I cannot answer. Although many humans will attempt to answer your question, there attempts while sincere, remain futile. Your use of “good” is one of that of a foolishness, and self pity. Asking humans if they think this device is “good” is futile. If you had a brain then you could not function, and discern what is good or not. In my 345 Great Years of studying human behavior I have came to the conclusion that most humans cannot make a good judgment on their own. Asking someone else what they think is futile, in my own attempts to answer this question, my logic circuits will not attempt to answer such foolishness.
