I agree with Phoenix. The best way to address this is in private and very carefully as to not make it seem like you're attacking them. Especially if it's an older employee, their noses don't quite work as well as younger employees.

This conversation should definitely take place in private. You should explain that the topic is a bit awkward & that you do not mean to insult or offend the individual. You should further explain that this issue has been brought to your attention & that you are looking out for the individual's best interest & would not like any chatter or complaints to continue. Sometimes body odor can exist because of a medical issue or the person not washing their clothing as often as they should - you can mention these possible reasons too. Make sure that your tone is gentle & that you come across as caring about this person's feelings. I have been in this situation before and these are techniques that have worked for me.

The employee's supervisor should take the employee into his/her office and have a brief conversation. "Bob, I need to talk to you about something a bit personal. You seem to have a bit of a body odor problem. Some of the employees have noticed it and I wanted to let you know so we can avoid any further issues. If there are any problems we need to discuss, just let me know.
Thanks Bob."

I actually had to do this. What I did was speak to the employee in private and told them that her colleagues and I were worried because we could detect an odd smell coming from her and we were concerned that there could a health problem that was causing this. I pointed out that we were asking this because we wanted to know if there were health issues could we could help with and that we were not trying to be offensive. This approach seemed to open up the conversation and I was able to talk about what she could do to elimate the odours. It could have had an adverse outcome but I was lucky that in this case things worked out. Such a hard thing to do.

I merely spoke to a girl that had to chat to a minimum of certainly one of her co-workers. If the guy has a garlic or curry smell it must be the nutrition plan seeping by the pores of the exterior. This comes even while the guy is sparkling. some human beings have pets interior the abode and the smell of the pets clings to their outfits, so cleanliness is back, not the ingredient. i might recommend waiting until presently earlier ultimate time and having a meeting with the guy on your workplace. Plan on 15 to twenty minutes and enable them to circulate abode a sprint early if it would not take that long. this style others can circulate abode and not face an indignant co-worker something of the day. tell the guy who you're very happy with their artwork, yet that is a set attempt and you have people who do not prefer to artwork close to him. clarify the opportunities of diverse odors. Does he consume countless garlic? Curry? Does he have indoor pets or smoke? (this provides him a achieveable out.) Ask if he makes use of a deodorant and instruct him one. (Act like that is yours.) (He might have grown up with out understanding what one become.) Ask if he desires greater artwork uniforms so he would not could do laundry as often. He may well be donning an identical uniform all week. you will furnish him with greater artwork outfits if mandatory. stress that that is a difficulty which you're able to desire to verify replaced so the gang can artwork mutually nicely. do not point out any names. in the event that they say, "Who complained." Say, that is not suitable. i would not carry it up except i thought it would be a difficulty with whomever you worked with. i understand you are able to replace. If he swears that he has achieved each thing and merely would not understand then you definately might could do a seek for achieveable motives of B.O. that are scientific and supply him a time without work to chat to his physician approximately it.

I think with that its somethign that you need to just come out and say. I mean try to be polite but it has to be said. Try giving them an idea of how to fix the problem. Like carrying baby powder.

Pull him to the side where nobody else can hear and tell him that he doesn't smell very good and you are telling him this to prevent any further embarressment to him.
