Yes you can!!
IDE and Sata channels both run completely separate interfaces and can work very well together.
If you're thinking of filling up with drives, I would recommend checking the output of the PC power supply. Hard drives use quite a bit of power.
Another good tip for extra performance: If you get 2 sata drives (same size) and use the sata raid 0 (zero) option, it will use both drives as one large volume. It will also write data across both drives (striped) which means installed programs will run twice as
fast - as it reads data from both drives at once. Keep windows installed on the IDE drive, but move Windows paging file to the sata volume. You will get an immediate and noticable performance boost with this option.
Hope this helps :)

Yes. As long as your motherboard has connections for both, and the sata drivers disk (usualy supplied with the motherboard), then all should be fine. Take note that you will have to decided which drives you want the OS installed on - by far the easiest would be the IDE - but if you press F6 when it asks you during the windows setup - point to the driver disk - and away you go. Good luck.

It is possible to have IDE and SATA drives on the same board. But you might need to change some configurations, depending on your setup. (Primary/Secondary/Master/Slave/etc.)
