If you meen the Central Processing Unit (a.k.a.: The processor), you will also need to get a new motherboard that is compadible with the new CPU.
If you are talking about the tower, there are many things to do that would upgrade it. If I tried to type them all, the question would be resolved by the time I was done.

Cheaper than replacing cpu/motherboard, try adding more memory and getting a vid card that doesn't share memory with your ram.

Take out old CPU and put in new CPU. Make sure it is compatible with your motherboard.
