Congratulations on starting your adventure to obtaining your CFA Charter.

The CFA designation is highly regarded in the investment community - this includes brokerages, asset managers, private equity and insurance. Boston is aruably the second largest home for these types of companies in the US, including the giant Fidelity.

I don't want to discourage you, but warn you that it is very difficult to make it in Boston in the financial industry. Since it seems you are new the financial industry, you would be asked to do basic entry level positions. You would also have to compete against the best and brightest in the world for these positions. Typical hirees have MBAs, experience in other industries and degrees from top undergraduate universities. One also has to remember that Boston is one of the most expensive cities to live in the US.

My recommendation is to "cut your teeth" elsewhere in the industry before trying to break into the big leagues. Work with a local investment firm, which can help you grow, develop and learn without getting fed to the wolves in Beantown.
