If everything is in order between you and your mother, I see no reason why you couldn't venture off on your own! Check the local laws and statues in your town. Usually 18 is the adult age, but there are exceptions to the laws in some areas. If you go live with a relative and you are "underage", then a guardianship contract would have to be amended by both partys, your parents and your live-in relatives or adult-head of house. But I really don't think they will make a big thing out of just being one year away from adulthood for you, or anyone else, anywhere! I say, just pack your bags, and with your mom's blessing, go off and find your destiny my child! Have fun and stay out of trouble, ok? LOL

First of all, why are you going to move out? When do you become 18? How are you going to support yourself? Yes your mother can get in trouble for neglect if she has not taken you to court for emancipation. That means you can declare yourself a legal adult without having to live under her rules. However, i cannot fathom why a seventeen year old girl thinks that she can move out...there are so many predators out there and you are still a child in the government's eyes. is your mother going to stand by you or is it a situation where she wants to just get you out of the house? Im not understanding it. if you do move out, stay safe and stay in school. Please dont let the secular world steer you off track! )0( blessed be

Probably not. The neglect standard is generally whether harm directly or foreseeably results because a parent failing to provide proper care and support.

Just living on your own isn't neglect, especially if your mom is helping you, unless the situation is one where the lack of supervision is the proximate cause of you becoming hurt.

But to be sure of how the laws in your state/country apply, you should consult with a licensed attorney/solicitor.

Legally you are not old enough to rent a place own your own. She would have to sign for responsibility. As for if you can live on you own you have to check your local laws.
