I have a question....not that I am really concerned just curious. I had a baby on the 3rd and his dad is very black but I am very white and he came out white. I was wondering if it takes them a while to get their color or do they not change.

It doesn't take them very long to change..that is if they are actually black. Most likely he will be a light brown.

My sisters kids are mixed, and they came out looking white, but day by day they began to look a bit blacker, and by the time they were about six months or so there was no mistaking that they were mixed race.
Even two black people can have a white looking newborn. I think babies just look similar when they are born.
I have also seen a gorgeous little girl who looked obviously mixed race, except her hair was a beautiful honey colour, and her eyes were blue, but she had a mix of white/black features and a light brown skin colour.

Look at the tips of your baby's ears. I had a second child a few weeks ago and he is very white. His dad is very dark but I'm very light. The tips of the baby's ears are light brown. That will most likely be his color.

I have seen a lot of mixed babies. Some black babies are born very light. They usually darken with age, but some remain very light. If you are very white, then it's possible your baby will take after you and have very fair skin. I know a mix baby that has blonde hair and blue eyes.

He may darken up a little but not much. My son is mixed Im black and Dad is white . My family when he was born didnt recognize him in the nursery there was 2 mexican babies, 5 white ones and 3 black ones and my son had reddish hair . I thought someone had kidnapped my kid he looked like the white babies. He is 9yrs old now and a shade lighter than me. So your baby may lighten up maybe not. Does it matter?

I am wondering if you expect him to be totally dark? Cause if you are, it may not happen. I have a friend who is white and her husband is very dark and their daughter is just a shade darker than the mother and she has dirty blonde hair and on the other hand, I have seen other babies that come out darker. That is something that cannot be predicted, it depends on Genes. The stronger genes will dominate and there is no way of telling.

Babies gain more color as they get older. Just like anything else no light, no color. They are born light. You never know just how much. My friend's daughter is mixed. Her dad is very dark and mom very white with big blue eyes. She is not so dark with big blue eyes. I have another friend who mom and dad both black but baby girl blonde hair and green eyes. You never know.

It doesn't really matter but....look at the tip of his/her's ears. That's the color they will usually be. Mostly all african american babies are born white. I am african american and I was born white but now I am very brown skinned. I didn't really get my color until I was 7, I was very light skinned up until that point.

It may take anywhere up to 9 months for your baby to get his color. I have seen many many black babies that are born looking white and gradually recieve their color over the months.

African American babies are usually born with a bit lighter skin than they'll ultimately have, but seeing that this baby is mixed...its kind of a toss up. The baby could be fair skinned or dark skinned, it just depends on what genes are the most dominant.
